"I Hope She Says 'Yes!'"

We must have heard some variation of that from every passerby as David and I sat, patiently waiting that text that told us Rachel would be coming soon. None of the hikers enjoying the beautiful sunset (and possibly, one of the last "warm" days of the year) wanted to get in our way, but they were all wishing David the best of luck with his big question!

David had been working with their close friend, Jessica, to plan something special for his proposal. You could tell he really loved Rachel a lot and it was important to him that the moment was memorable for her. He and Jessica spent hours working on personalized signs for her walk up to a large board spelling out "Will You Marry Me" in roses. She knew Rachel had been wanting fall photos taken and, due to something coming up, Jessica just so happened to have a photography date she couldn't make, and asked Rachel if she wanted the date.

When they told me the plan, and overhearing the phone calls, you could tell they were really pulling it off! She genuinely had no idea! While David and I waited, hidden from view at the top of the steps, Jessica brought Rachel to the "photo session" location and sent her up on her own. I can only imagine what was going through Rachel's head as she started reading signs, one by one, that seemed more and more personal. Then, David stepped out from behind the large sign at the top of the stairs and caught Rachel's eyes. Even with my bright green hair, she didn't see me, because their eyes were locked on each other.

I feel so incredibly lucky to have spent the very last moments of dusk with this newly engaged and clearly very in love couple. I hope you enjoy a small journey through their day, and I wish them the best of luck in their new BIG journey together!
